The regional export market –including MENA and East Africa- amounts to USD3.7 billion annually and remains largely untapped by local players. This creates a significant opportunity to serve local and regional demand by building up to five medium Gx SOD production plants, each of them equivalent to 10-15% of the local demand. The CAPEX per plant would be USD~80 million and the capacity ~3 billion production units. The product portfolio includes solid and non-solid delivery forms to treat multiple therapeutic areas.

Ministry of Health (MOH) will support this initiative by enforcing generics use in public hospitals and tenders, enforcing physicians to prescribe both molecules and brand names, and changing pharmacists’ incentive systems from a per-value-basis to a per-product-basis.
